Vietnamese President Visits Cambodian King and Queen Mother at Royal Palace

PHNOM PENH: The Vietnamese President, Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, paid a courtesy visit to His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni at the Royal Palace on Tuesday morning. The President of Vietnam is leading a high-level delegation for a two-day official state visit of Cambodia.

After concluding his visit with the King, the Vietnamese President went on to meet Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, at the most revered Kantha Bopha shrine in the Royal Palace.

The previous Vietnamese President, Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, had also met with King Norodom Sihamoni, Great Supreme Patriarch Tep Vong and Supreme Patriarch Bour Kry during his past official visit, while laying wreaths at the Independence Monument and flower baskets at the statue of His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk, the former King of Cambodia.

President Nguyễn Xuân Phúc will have separate meetings with Senate President, Say Chhum, President of the National Assembly, Heng Samrin, and Prime Minister Hun Sen. He will also attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the new administrative building in the National Assembly, presided over by President Heng Samrin, and will sign a number of important documents with Prime Minister Hun Sen.
